Install guide

Installing your AI-Ready files on GoDaddy

Last updated 19 September 2026

This guide is written for GoDaddy’s hosted Website Builder (Websites + Marketing), the plan most GoDaddy clients have. It is a closed template builder with no file manager, so three of the five files stay out of your hands — the other two install as ordinary pages.

3 of the 5 cannot be installed on GoDaddy at all. Those are marked, with the reason, rather than left for you to discover.

Blocked by the platform

robots.txt

Files: robots.txt

This is the file that tells search engines and AI crawlers which parts of your site they may read.

Not possible on GoDaddy. This entry is written for GoDaddy's hosted Website Builder (the "Websites + Marketing" product, the mass-market default most AIqSight clients have — a closed template builder with no file manager or FTP). It generates robots.txt itself for every site, and GoDaddy has no help article for editing it the way it does for WordPress hosting, because there is no root-directory access to place a replacement file.

Your training-crawler and AI-crawler choices can't be written into a file there. The only related control GoDaddy exposes is a single site-wide "hide this site from search engines" switch in SEO settings, which blocks everything or nothing and isn't a substitute for per-bot rules. Everything else in your kit installs normally.

Blocked by the platform

sitemap.xml

Files: sitemap.xml

This lists your pages so crawlers can find them without guessing.

Not possible on GoDaddy. Websites + Marketing builds sitemap.xml itself from your site's pages and publishes it automatically, the same closed-builder limitation as robots.txt above — there's no file manager or root-directory access to replace it with our file.

The sitemap stays the one GoDaddy maintains, which already lists your live pages, so there is nothing from our file to install here.

Blocked by the platform

llms.txt and llms-full.txt

Files: llms.txt, llms-full.txt

These give AI systems a short plain-text map of your site and a fuller copy of its content, in the format they read fastest.

Not possible on GoDaddy. llms.txt and llms-full.txt would need to sit in the site's root directory, the same place robots.txt and sitemap.xml live, and Websites + Marketing gives no file manager or FTP access to put a file there.

An AI system checking for a root llms.txt will not find one on your GoDaddy domain. We fold the same information into your For-AI page instead, which is a normal page and does install.

You can install this

The For-AI page

Files: for-ai.txt

This page states plainly what your business does and how to reach it, written for an AI system reading in one pass rather than a person browsing.

  1. In the GoDaddy dashboard, go to your product page, expand Websites + Marketing, select Manage next to your site, then Edit Website to open the builder.
  2. In the site navigation panel, select the + (Add Page) icon, choose New Page, pick a blank page template, and select Create Page.
  3. Title the page For AI. Turn off Show in Navigation and Show in Footer if you don't want it in the menu.
  4. Select Add Section, search for the HTML section, select Add, and paste the content of for-ai.txt into the Custom Code field (a plain Text section also works if you'd rather not use HTML).
  5. Publish the site. GoDaddy sets the page's URL from its title, so afterward check the page's settings and adjust the URL there if yourdomain.com/for-ai doesn't already match.

The identity block

Files: organization.jsonld

This is the structured data that tells search engines and AI systems unambiguously who you are — the same job a business card does for a person.

  1. In the GoDaddy dashboard, go to your product page, expand Websites + Marketing, select Manage next to your site, then Edit Website to open the builder.
  2. Go to your homepage, select Add Section, search for the HTML section, and select Add.
  3. Paste the contents of organization.jsonld, wrapped in a <script type="application/ld+json"> tag, into the Custom Code field, leave Forced Height blank, and save.
  4. GoDaddy has no single site-wide header field for custom code — Settings only has named fields for Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, Facebook Meta Tag, Pinterest Meta Tag and Google AdSense. Each HTML section only applies to the page it's added to, so repeat this on your other key pages (such as the For AI page) if you want the identity block there too.
  5. Publish the site.

When you are finished

Open the verification link in the email that came with your kit. We re-scan the site and send back a one-page sheet listing every file, whether it is live, and what moved. It lands in your inbox by the next morning.

If you never click it, we run the same check thirty days after delivery and send the sheet anyway. Nothing about the install expires, and nothing here needs a developer on standby.
