Installing your AI-Ready files on Framer
Last updated 19 September 2026
Framer generates robots.txt and the sitemap for you, but on a Pro or Enterprise plan you can upload your own robots.txt and llms.txt as static files. Only the sitemap stays out of your hands.
1 of the 5 cannot be installed on Framer at all. Those are marked, with the reason, rather than left for you to discover.
robots.txt
Files: robots.txt
This is the file that tells search engines and AI crawlers which parts of your site they may read.
- Framer writes a robots.txt for every published site on its own. To replace it with ours, open the site's Site Settings, then Hosting, then Files.
- Click Add, upload the robots.txt file we sent, and set its path to / (the path is the folder, so leave the filename out).
- Publish the site, then open yourdomain.com/robots.txt to confirm our version is the one showing. Framer says uploading a custom robots.txt this way needs a Pro or Enterprise plan.
sitemap.xml
Files: sitemap.xml
This lists your pages so crawlers can find them without guessing.
Not possible on Framer. Framer generates sitemap.xml automatically for every published site, and none of its help pages we read describes replacing it with an uploaded file.
The sitemap stays the one Framer maintains; there is nothing from our file to install here.
llms.txt and llms-full.txt
Files: llms.txt, llms-full.txt
These give AI systems a short plain-text map of your site and a fuller copy of its content, in the format they read fastest.
- Open the site's Site Settings, then Hosting, then Files, and click Add.
- Upload the llms.txt file we sent and set its path to / so it is served at yourdomain.com/llms.txt.
- Framer's static-files page says a root-level path such as /llms.txt is supported, so add llms-full.txt the same way with the path /. Its llms.txt article does not mention llms-full.txt, so if the file does not load after publishing, ask us and we will fold its content into llms.txt.
- Publish, then open /llms.txt to check it loads. Framer says static file hosting for llms.txt is available on the Pro and Enterprise plans.
The For-AI page
Files: for-ai.txt
This page states plainly what your business does and how to reach it, written for an AI system reading in one pass rather than a person browsing.
- Open the Pages panel, click the + button, and choose the type of page you want to create.
- Rename the page For AI (double-click its name), check its URL path is /for-ai (hover over the page, open the three-dot menu or right-click it, and choose the option to customise the URL), paste the content of for-ai.txt into the page's text, and publish.
The identity block
Files: organization.jsonld
This is the structured data that tells search engines and AI systems unambiguously who you are — the same job a business card does for a person.
- Open the site's Site Settings and find the Custom Code section. Framer offers positions at the start or end of the head and body.
- Paste the contents of organization.jsonld inside a <script type="application/ld+json"> tag into a head position, save, and publish the site.
When you are finished
Open the verification link in the email that came with your kit. We re-scan the site and send back a one-page sheet listing every file, whether it is live, and what moved. It lands in your inbox by the next morning.
If you never click it, we run the same check thirty days after delivery and send the sheet anyway. Nothing about the install expires, and nothing here needs a developer on standby.
For anything this guide does not cover, Framer’s own documentation is here: Framer Help: Access your robots.txt file.
