Install guide

Installing your AI-Ready files on Webflow

Last updated 19 September 2026

Webflow gives robots.txt, the sitemap and llms.txt their own fields in Site settings, and the rest goes in as a page and a head-code block. Only llms-full.txt has no documented home.

You can install this

robots.txt

Files: robots.txt

This is the file that tells search engines and AI crawlers which parts of your site they may read.

  1. In Webflow, open Site settings, go to the SEO tab, then Indexing.
  2. Paste the contents of the robots.txt file we sent into the robots.txt field. Leave out our Sitemap line: Webflow adds a link to your sitemap to robots.txt on its own, and a second one would list the sitemap twice.
  3. Click Save, then publish your site.
You can install this

sitemap.xml

Files: sitemap.xml

This lists your pages so crawlers can find them without guessing.

  1. In Site settings, go to the SEO tab and find the Sitemap section.
  2. Switch Auto-generate sitemap to No, then paste the contents of the sitemap.xml file we sent into the Custom sitemap.xml field. (If you would rather keep the sitemap Webflow builds and refreshes on every publish, leave the switch on Yes and skip the rest; both are valid.)
  3. Click Save changes, then publish your site.
You can install this

llms.txt and llms-full.txt

Files: llms.txt, llms-full.txt

These give AI systems a short plain-text map of your site and a fuller copy of its content, in the format they read fastest.

  1. In Site settings, go to the SEO tab, then LLMs.txt, and click Upload file.
  2. Choose the llms.txt file we sent (Webflow asks for UTF-8 text under 100 KB), then click Save changes and publish. Webflow serves it at yourdomain.com/llms.txt on your custom domain only, not on the webflow.io staging address.
  3. Webflow's help covers a single llms.txt upload and says nothing about llms-full.txt. Ask us and we will fold the llms-full.txt content into the same file, or place it another way you prefer.
You can install this

The For-AI page

Files: for-ai.txt

This page states plainly what your business does and how to reach it, written for an AI system reading in one pass rather than a person browsing.

  1. Open the Pages panel, click the Create new page icon, then New page, and type For AI in the Page name field.
  2. Open the new page's Page settings, set the slug to for-ai, and click Create.
  3. Add the content of for-ai.txt to the page body as plain text in the Designer, then publish the site.
You can install this

The identity block

Files: organization.jsonld

This is the structured data that tells search engines and AI systems unambiguously who you are — the same job a business card does for a person.

  1. In Site settings, open the Custom code tab and find the Head code section. Webflow's help says custom code is available with a Core, Growth, Agency or Freelancer Workspace, or a site with an active Site plan.
  2. Paste the contents of organization.jsonld inside a <script type="application/ld+json"> tag. Include the opening and closing script tags, but no <html>, <head> or <body> tags.
  3. Click Save changes, then publish your site. Head code applies to every page. Don't also add the same block through a page's Schema markup field, as Webflow recommends keeping schema in one place.

When you are finished

Open the verification link in the email that came with your kit. We re-scan the site and send back a one-page sheet listing every file, whether it is live, and what moved. It lands in your inbox by the next morning.

If you never click it, we run the same check thirty days after delivery and send the sheet anyway. Nothing about the install expires, and nothing here needs a developer on standby.
