Installing your AI-Ready files on Shopline

Last updated 19 September 2026

Shopline has a robots.txt editor, a custom sitemap upload, custom pages and a Custom Code app. That covers four of the five files; the llms.txt route we confirm with you.

1 of the 5 cannot be installed on Shopline at all. Those are marked, with the reason, rather than left for you to discover.

You can install this

robots.txt

Files: robots.txt

This is the file that tells search engines and AI crawlers which parts of your site they may read.

  1. In the SHOPLINE admin, go to Channels, then Online Store, then Preferences.
  2. Find Robots.txt Management and click Go to settings.
  3. In the Robots editor, replace the contents with the robots.txt file we sent. Keep any rules you already rely on.
  4. Click Update, then open the robots.txt link again to check the saved result. If you changed the older Anti-crawler settings, SHOPLINE adds those disallow rules to the end of the file by itself.
You can install this

sitemap.xml

Files: sitemap.xml

This lists your pages so crawlers can find them without guessing.

  1. In the SHOPLINE admin, go to Online Store, then Preferences, and find Sitemap.xml management.
  2. SHOPLINE already publishes its own sitemap at yourstoredomain.com/sitemap.xml. We recommend leaving that default switched on.
  3. Under Custom sitemap, click Upload Sitemap.xml and choose the sitemap.xml we sent. Only .xml files are accepted, up to 10 files, each up to 50 MB and 50,000 URLs.
  4. If the default and your custom sitemap are both on, search engines may read both, so tell us if you would rather we only supply the pages SHOPLINE does not already list.
Blocked by the platform

llms.txt and llms-full.txt

Files: llms.txt, llms-full.txt

These give AI systems a short plain-text map of your site and a fuller copy of its content, in the format they read fastest.

Not possible on Shopline. SHOPLINE's help centre lists an LLMS.txt settings area under Online Store, then Preferences, but the article that explains it is behind a sign-in, so we could not confirm whether you can upload your own llms.txt and llms-full.txt or only switch SHOPLINE's version on and off.

Until we confirm it on your store, an AI system checking for a root llms.txt may not find our version. Ask us and we will check your Preferences screen with you. The For-AI page below installs normally and carries the same information.

You can install this

The For-AI page

Files: for-ai.txt

This page states plainly what your business does and how to reach it, written for an AI system reading in one pass rather than a person browsing.

  1. In the SHOPLINE admin, go to Online Store, then Page, and click Create a new page.
  2. Enter For AI as the page title and paste the content of for-ai.txt into the page editor. Page content must stay under 1 MB.
  3. In the right panel, click the edit icon under Search Engine Optimization and set the page URL to for-ai.
  4. Set Publish page to Publish, then click Save.
You can install this

The identity block

Files: organization.jsonld

This is the structured data that tells search engines and AI systems unambiguously who you are — the same job a business card does for a person.

  1. In the SHOPLINE admin, go to Apps, then Custom Code. Install the app first if it is not there yet.
  2. Click Add code and give it a name such as Organization identity.
  3. Paste the contents of organization.jsonld, wrapped in a <script type="application/ld+json"> tag, into Code content. Leave the page trigger on your home page, or on every page template you want it on.
  4. Choose Top as the insert position, then click Add. The code takes effect at once. SHOPLINE describes Top as loading before the page content; its help page does not say the code lands inside the head tag, so check the live page source afterwards.

When you are finished

Open the verification link in the email that came with your kit. We re-scan the site and send back a one-page sheet listing every file, whether it is live, and what moved. It lands in your inbox by the next morning.

If you never click it, we run the same check thirty days after delivery and send the sheet anyway. Nothing about the install expires, and nothing here needs a developer on standby.
